Queen Latifah has joined the coaching panel for season 30 of The Voice and made history during the premiere episode by being the first coach to use a new "First In" button feature. This button allows the first coach to turn around to automatically secure an artist of their choice. Latifah deployed the tool on Mia Knight, a 16-year-old vocalist from New Jersey, making her debut as a coach memorable.

Knight impressed the panel by delivering a powerful rendition of "You Stole The Show" by Sienna Spiro, earning chair turns from Latifah, Riley Green, and Kelly Clarkson, though Adam Levine did not turn. With multiple coaches competing for her, Latifah clinched the decision by activating her "First In" button, securing Knight for her team. The Voice season 30 premiered on 21 September and introduced several format changes, including the "First In" button feature and the addition of a performance opportunity at the 2027 Governors Ball in New York City.
