Quentin Tarantino’s First Movie in 7 Years Officially Sets Theatrical Release
Netflix has confirmed that "The Adventures of Cliff Booth," Quentin Tarantino's first directorial effort in seven years, will get a theatrical release before hitting streaming. The film is a follow-up to his 2019 hit "Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood," centring on Brad Pitt's stuntman character, and marks a significant return for one of Hollywood's most acclaimed directors following the release of "Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood."
The film will receive a two-week exclusive run in IMAX cinemas starting 25 November, before becoming available to stream on Netflix worldwide from 23 December. The announcement follows a shadow trailer that debuted during the Super Bowl and the release of first-look images back in March.
In short
- Tarantino's new film "The Adventures of Cliff Booth" gets IMAX release from 25 November
- Film streams on Netflix worldwide starting 23 December
- It's a follow-up to "Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood," Tarantino's first film in 7 years
Explained simply
Quentin Tarantino is an American film-maker known for films including Pulp Fiction and Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. The latter, released in 2019, is set in Los Angeles in the late 1960s and follows actor Rick Dalton and his stunt double, Cliff Booth, played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt.
A follow-up centred on Cliff Booth brings back a supporting character from that film. Pitt is among the best-known actors working in Hollywood, while Tarantino’s films have drawn attention for their distinctive dialogue, violence and references to earlier cinema. The new film connects to a story and characters audiences may already know, while introducing them to a further chapter.
