Scrum-half Raffi Quirke has been called into the England squad for their Nations Championship fixture against Argentina next Saturday. He comes in as a replacement for Alex Mitchell, who suffered a hamstring injury during England's 73-8 victory over Fiji in Liverpool, and the call-up gives Quirke a route back into the international set-up as England prepare for their final Test of the summer.

The 24-year-old, who has recently signed for Newcastle Red Bulls after leaving Sale Sharks, has two international caps and became England's youngest scrum-half in more than 90 years when he made his debut in 2021. He previously stepped in for the injured Mitchell during this year's Six Nations and featured for an England XV against a France XV in a Nations Championship warm-up last month. Coach Steve Borthwick's other options at scrum-half are Leicester's Jack van Poortvliet and Bath's Ben Spencer, with the match to be played at the Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades in Santiago del Estero.
