Raheem Sterling has been charged with dangerous driving, possession of nitrous oxide and failing to provide a specimen following a crash involving his £270,000 Lamborghini on the M3 in Hampshire. The 31-year-old, currently without a club, faces up to two years in prison if convicted, marking a further low point in a difficult period for the former England international.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said the charges stem from a single-vehicle collision near the Minley Interchange on the M3 southbound on 28 May 2026, after the car was reported swerving across lanes before hitting the barriers. Dashcam footage appeared to show the driver inhaling from a balloon, associated with nitrous oxide use, moments before the crash. Sterling, who has been out of contract since leaving Feyenoord in the summer, is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court on 15 September.
