Rahm sacrifices £75m to secure exit from LIV Golf
Jon Rahm has agreed to leave LIV Golf, surrendering his claim to around £75m in unpaid contract money to secure what he called a “complete economic walk-away”. The decision follows the withdrawal of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which led LIV to seek bankruptcy protection in the United States.
Rahm was owed about $100m from the remainder of the contract he signed after leaving the PGA Tour in December 2023, including $7.4m for the rest of the 2026 season. He will retain the rights to Legion XIII, the LIV team he captained, but cannot use the name for a team in TGL. Rahm had rejected LIV’s proposed terms despite a possible $300m financing deal, and had secured an agreement with the DP World Tour to keep his membership and remain eligible for next year’s Ryder Cup.
