Rams stars get emotional over Jaylen Watson’s devastating injury: ‘We’re going to do it for him’

Los Angeles Rams cornerback Jaylen Watson has undergone season-ending shoulder surgery, leaving a depleted defence without a player teammates describe as both a physical force and a close friend. Rams players say they will draw motivation from Watson’s example and dedicate their efforts to him as they continue the season.

Coach Sean McVay said another shoulder dislocation risked further damage, making surgery the right choice despite Watson’s determination to play. McVay recalled Watson asking for only half a bag of intravenous fluids during a Week 7 game against the Raiders so he could return to the field. Safety Quentin Lake believes Watson can still help the secondary with his knowledge and leadership while he recovers.
