Netflix has cancelled the romantic drama Ransom Canyon after two seasons, ending the story of Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly's characters on a settled note rather than a cliffhanger. The decision, confirmed roughly six weeks after Season 2 premiered on 23 July, reflects Netflix's ongoing practice of weighing viewership against production costs, with the show's high-profile leads carrying a considerable budget that ultimately outweighed its audience numbers.

Season 2 drew 4.1 million views in its first week, a 43% drop from Season 1's 7.2 million opening-week views, and it fell out of Netflix's weekly Top 10 after just three weeks compared with four for the debut season. The series, based on Jodi Thomas's novels, had already survived a tense renewal process, being picked up for a shorter, creatively overhauled second run more than two months after its 2025 premiere. Other Netflix shows with similar or steeper year-on-year viewership declines, such as Running Point and The Four Seasons, were still renewed, underscoring that Ransom Canyon's fate came down to cost versus performance. The show was created and run by April Blair, with Duhamel and Kelly also serving as executive producers.
