Insomniac's James Stevenson has confirmed that the original 2002 PS2 Ratchet & Clank is being brought to PS5 via emulation later this year, and the re-release will feature a brand-new Platinum Trophy for players to unlock. This matters to longtime PlayStation fans because it will be the game's first native PS5 outing, and many consider the original superior to its 2016 PS4 remake, particularly for Ratchet's edgier original personality.

The game is already available through the Ratchet & Clank Collections on PS3 and PS Vita, but this emulated version marks its PS5 debut, giving fans a third Platinum to chase; a fourth may also be achievable via a separate PS4 version, since Sony's emulated titles typically launch on both platforms. It will be included with a PS Plus Premium subscription, though Push Square notes it should also be available to buy separately for those without a subscription.
