Alan Ritchson has said that the delayed next Fast & Furious film faces major financial and production challenges, despite Universal setting a March 2028 release date. He described the sequel as difficult to organise because its scale makes it too expensive, while filmmakers must still deliver a finale that feels suitably large for the franchise.

Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Ritchson said he is involved in ongoing discussions and that there are “a lot of obstacles” to resolve. He suggested the production needs a more efficient approach that reduces costs without making the film feel smaller, but said another instalment will be made and expects it to be strong once those problems are solved.
