‘Reacher’s Best Character Still Deserves Their Own Spin-Off

An opinion piece argues that Detective Oscar Finlay, played by Malcolm Goodwin, should lead a Reacher spin-off. It says his layered character and strong role in the first season give the franchise room to grow beyond Jack Reacher.

The article highlights Finlay’s grief over his wife Sharon’s death from cancer, his continued habit of leaving her messages, and his return to Boston as a police lieutenant in season two. It suggests a new series could follow his detective work, his attempts to move on, and life with Jack the dog, while drawing on the respect and unconventional methods he picked up from Reacher.
