A fan-made expansion for Red Dead Redemption 2, titled "Nuevo Paraiso: The Forgotten Frontier," is in development as a Nexus Mod, addressing a longstanding complaint that players could not explore Mexico and New Austin until the game's epilogue. The mod is set as a prequel centred on Sadie Adler, taking place before her departure for South America, and aims to give players insight into the origins of the Mexican Revolution referenced in the original Red Dead Redemption.

The announcement comes amid a busy year for major game releases, including 007 First Light and Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced, alongside PS5 ports of Black Ops and Black Ops II. Red Dead Redemption 2 remains widely regarded as one of the finest games ever made, despite losing the Game of the Year award to God of War, and interest in its world remains high ahead of the anticipated release of Rockstar's GTA 6 later this year.
