Red Velvet Share Mini Album ‘Velvet Summer’
Red Velvet have released a new mini album, 'Velvet Summer', through SM Entertainment, marking their first seasonal project since 2024's 'Cosmic'. The five-track release sees the K-pop group broaden their sonic palette with influences from bossa nova, reggae, dance-pop, classical and acoustic styles, while retaining the group chemistry that has defined their decade-plus career.
Member JOY wrote the lyrics for two tracks, 'Surfin' Boy' and 'Hawaii', drawing on experience gained through her solo work to add a more personal element. Alongside the album, the group released a music video for lead single 'Surfin' Boy', which mixes bossa nova guitar and reggae rhythms with a house groove. The release follows a string of hits including 'Bad Boy', 'Ice Cream Cake', 'Russian Roulette', 'Red Flavor' and 'Psycho'.
