A US court has entered a default judgment against James “Archbox” Williams in Nintendo’s long-running case over alleged distribution of pirated Nintendo Switch games. Williams did not defend himself in court, allowing Nintendo of America to secure $4.5 million in copyright damages and a permanent injunction.

The order requires Williams to disable online shops offering pirated Switch games and close related social-media platforms. Court documents allege that his operations distributed thousands, potentially hundreds of thousands, of unauthorised copies, while his continued lack of communication leaves it unclear whether Nintendo will recover the money.
