A garden first shown at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show is to be rebuilt as a permanent community space at Sheffield’s Park Hill estate. The project is intended to bring biodiversity and a new shared green area to the regenerated housing development, while highlighting the value of nature on the edges of towns and cities.

The Campaign to Protect Rural England’s ‘On the Edge’ garden was designed by Sarah Eberle for CPRE’s centenary and is due to move after the 19–23 May show. Its features include native flowering plants, a winding dry-stone wall, seating, a water trough and a large Mother Nature sculpture made from fallen trees and willow; Park Hill’s links to early green-belt campaigner Ethel Haythornthwaite were also cited.
