Remember When Annie Lennox and Al Green Released a Duet Together in 1988?

Annie Lennox and Al Green teamed up in 1988 to record “Put A Little Love In Your Heart” for the soundtrack to the film *Scrooged*. The pairing brought together two singers with contrasting styles, and the song became a Top 10 hit in the US, giving both artists a notable career milestone.

The song was written by Jackie DeShannon, her brother Randy Myers and Jimmy Holiday, and DeShannon first released it in 1969; her version reached the Top 5. At the time of the duet, Lennox was still fronting Eurythmics, while Green had been performing for more than 20 years. It marked Green’s return to the US Top 10 after 14 years and became Lennox’s biggest solo hit, preceding her 1992 solo album *Diva*.
