Remember When Frank Sinatra Released a Song With U2’s Bono?

American Songwriter ·

In 1993, Frank Sinatra released “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” as a duet with U2 singer Bono on his album *Duets*. The pairing brought together artists from very different musical worlds, and the single became a Top 5 hit in the United Kingdom, marking Sinatra’s last successful song release to radio.

Sinatra first recorded Cole Porter’s song in 1956 for *Songs for Swingin’ Lovers!* and had performed it on radio as early as 1946. Sound engineer John Palladino recalled Sinatra making 22 takes during the 1956 recording session, though he thought only four or five were complete. The song later became a regular in Sinatra’s live shows and was covered by artists including the Four Seasons, Michael Bublé, Diana Krall and Sammy Davis Jr.
