Slipknot reportedly intended to announce the departure formally this week but lost control of the story after TMZ broke the initial news on 31 July.

According to the report, the decision followed accumulated dissatisfaction within the band rather than a single incident. Guitarist Jim Root posted a cryptic Instagram Stories message the day the news broke, urging fans not to "believe everything you read" and to wait for more information, without confirming or denying the reports. Wilson's exit also comes amid personal upheaval: his engagement to Kelly Osbourne, daughter of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, reportedly ended earlier this year after the couple, who share a son born in 2022, were last seen together at February's Grammy Awards.
