New analysis from market research firm Alinea confirms that Capcom's 2023 remake of Resident Evil 4 is the best-selling remake of the current console generation, outperforming rivals across PlayStation, Xbox and PC. The finding underscores just how commercially successful the reimagining of the 2005 survival horror classic has been for Capcom, cementing it as one of the publisher's standout releases of this hardware cycle.

According to Alinea's figures, covering the period since the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S launched in November 2020, Resident Evil 4 has sold roughly 16.8 million copies and generated around $560m in gross revenue. PlayStation leads sales with 7.4 million copies, followed by Steam with 6.8 million and Xbox with 1.6 million, while Steam's regional pricing and frequent discounts have helped it steadily grow its share of revenue over time. Other notable remakes trail well behind, including Ark: Survival Ascended (7m), The Last of Us Part 1 (6.3m), Oblivion Remastered (4.5m) and Dead Space (4.3m), though the newly released Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has already topped 3.5 million sales in its first fortnight.
