Producer Carter Swan, known for his work on high-profile video game adaptations including Resident Evil and The Last of Us, is developing a film version of the comic book series The Crying Boy. The project marks another step in Keenspot's expansion into film and television, following previous successful adaptations like Marry Me.

The Crying Boy, published by Keenspot in 2024, was created by writer Niall O'Rourke and artist Rob Moran. The horror comic follows a widow in Queens who must protect her son when he befriends a haunting painting that serves as a vessel for an ancient demon targeting children throughout history. The comic has already achieved notable success, earning a Ringo Award nomination for Best Single Issue or Short Story, currently in its third printing, with a deluxe collection scheduled for 2027 via Simon & Schuster. Swan, who spent nearly eight years as a senior producer at PlayStation Productions and earned Emmy nominations in 2023 and 2025 for his work on The Last of Us, will develop the adaptation alongside scriptwriter Rona Mark.
