Resident Evil Requiem’s made over $500m since release, but the new film didn’t have as big of an impact as Capcom’s price drops
Resident Evil Requiem has reportedly generated more than $500 million in sales, making it the strongest-performing Resident Evil game to date and extending Capcom’s recent success. However, the new Resident Evil film had less effect on Requiem’s sales than Capcom’s discounts, despite achieving a franchise-best opening weekend.
Estimates suggest Requiem has sold four million copies on PS5, with 30% being physical editions, while Resident Evil 4 Remake has made more than $600 million over three years. After Capcom discounted several games eight days before the film’s release, Requiem’s daily PS5 revenue fell by 4%, from about $284,000 to $271,000; the film did increase player numbers, particularly for Resident Evil 2 Remake, which gained 48%, and Resident Evil 3 Remake, which gained 25%.
- Requiem has reportedly earned over $500 million.
- Discounts affected sales more than the new film.
- Older Resident Evil games gained players after its release.
