Switzerland's Marlen Reusser claimed her first-ever Tour de France Femmes yellow jersey after winning the fourth stage, a 21km individual time trial from Gevrey-Chambertin to Dijon. The 34-year-old time trial world champion produced a dominant ride in scorching conditions, dislodging previous leader Sigrid Haugset and moving into the overall race lead as the general classification took shape ahead of the tour's later mountain stages.

Reusser completed the course in 27 minutes 30 seconds, edging the Netherlands' Lieke Nooijen by four seconds and finishing 14 seconds clear of Demi Vollering, who now sits second overall. British rider Zoe Backstedt, a junior world time trial champion, impressed with fourth place on her Tour debut, 20 seconds back. Norway's Haugset, who led after a solo breakaway on Monday, slipped to fourth overall after losing three minutes, while defending champion Pauline Ferrand-Prevot also struggled in temperatures exceeding 30C, conceding over two minutes to Reusser.
