A family journal entry from July 1954 has been made public after 72 years, recording Major Bill Davidson’s reported 20-minute sighting of a large creature in Loch Ness. His account described a “huge snake’s head”, repeated diving and backtracking, and a prominent V-shaped wake, making it notable among claims about the Loch Ness Monster.

Davidson estimated the creature was exceptionally large and saw it travelling towards Dores from near Urquhart Castle. His mother and sister separately reported seeing a substantial hump moving at the speed of a motor boat, while the family’s home later became a gathering place for Nessie hunters; the account is being shared as relatives prepare to sell the shoreline property.
