Review: Moss: The Forgotten Relic (Switch 2) – A Port That Doesn’t Fall Flat On A Flatscreen

Nintendo Life · 5 hours ago

Moss: The Forgotten Relic brings both instalments of Polyarc's acclaimed VR puzzle-adventure series to Nintendo Switch 2 as a conventional, non-VR release, testing whether games designed for headsets can still work on a flat screen. According to Nintendo Life's review, while some of the original tactile immersion is inevitably lost outside VR, the reworked controls and camera system preserve the heart of the games, making this a successful and worthwhile port rather than a diminished one.

The package includes Moss: Book I (2018) with its Twilight Garden DLC, and the more ambitious Book II (2022), letting players experience the full saga in one collection. Players guide the mouse heroine Quill through platforming and combat, while also acting as the "Reader" to manipulate the environment and solve puzzles, now using the ZR button and right stick instead of VR hand tracking. Book II notably expands the scale and visual imagination of its diorama-like worlds, layering mechanics such as enemy possession and weapon-switching for more complex puzzle design.

  • Switch 2 port bundles VR games Moss Book I and II together
  • Loses some VR immersion but retains core puzzle-adventure appeal
  • Reworked stick-and-button controls replace original VR hand interactions
