Northern Nights held its inaugural event at Merchant's House in Sheffield, bringing together three accomplished singer-songwriters: Michele Stodart from Mercury Prize-nominated band The Magic Numbers, Robert Vincent (UK Americana Music Association Song of the Year 2025), and Ed Cosens, Sheffield-based songwriter and former Reverend and the Makers guitarist. Rather than performing individual sets, the musicians took turns singing in a responsive, collaborative format, creating an intimate and special atmosphere in the candlelit, cabaret-style venue.

The event featured a unique interactive format where performers chose what to play based on songs that had come before, exploring themes of mental health and humanity's relationship with the natural world from different perspectives. The three musicians eventually played together, with Ed Cosens and Michele Stodart previewing a new song titled "We're Alright", set to be recorded at Yellow Arch Studios. The reviewer characterised the atmosphere as "hygge" — the Danish concept of warmth, cosiness and contentment — describing a scene where the audience sat in engaged silence, completely enchanted by the intimate gathering of talented performers.
