Veteran British guitarist Richard Thompson is set to release his twentieth solo record this autumn, continuing a career spanning nearly six decades. The album, titled 'Hippies, Thugs, and Heroes,' follows his 2024 release 'Ship to Shore' and opens with a hard-hitting rock track. The New West Records release will arrive on October 16.

Thompson developed the material through informal home studio sessions, recently investing in a drum kit to craft more detailed demos before working with his full band. He describes the process as deeply personal, noting that his direct involvement shaped the final arrangements significantly. The prolific artist's career encompasses earlier collaborative recordings with his former spouse Linda, whom he performed with throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, as well as instrumental work for film and documentary projects.
