Actor Rick Moranis has ended nearly 30 years away from acting to reprise his role as Lord Dark Helmet in "Spaceballs 2: The New One," reuniting with the original film's cast for the first time in almost 40 years. Speaking at Comic-Con, Moranis described the experience as disorienting at first but said it grew on him as filming progressed, offering a rare glimpse into his return after decades largely spent away from the screen.

Moranis, who last appeared in a live-action feature in 1997's "Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves," said he found himself comparing the ages of his co-stars, including Daphne Zuniga, Bill Pullman and George Wyner, to his own age when the original "Spaceballs" was made 39 years ago. The sequel also brings back Mel Brooks as Yogurt and adds newcomers Josh Gad, Keke Palmer, Lewis Pullman and Anthony Carrigan in undisclosed roles, with Josh Greenbaum directing and Gad co-writing the script. "Spaceballs: The New One" is scheduled for release in cinemas on 23 April 2027.
