Rick Nielsen’s 5-Neck Guitar and His Coat That Nikki Sixx Peed On Fetch Big Money at Auction
Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick has sold more than 300 items from his collection through Julien’s Auctions, led by a custom five-neck Hamer guitar that fetched $313,600. The sale drew attention to the range of objects connected to his career and included proceeds benefiting St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
A black rubberised coat that Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx had urinated on sold for $5,760, about ten times its estimate; Sixx recounted the incident in his autobiography. Other notable sales included a stage-played 1975 Hamer guitar for $256,000, a 1955 Ford Thunderbird for $76,800 and a sweater from a Cheap Trick album cover for $6,400. The band has US tour dates planned for November, while a report says it intends to take a touring break in 2027.
