Rihanna Rocks Wildly Colorful Headdress With Jewel-Dripping Carnival Outfit Featuring Bold Cut-Outs For Barbados’ Kadooment Day Parade

Rihanna returned to her native Barbados to take part in the Grand Kadooment Day Parade on Monday 3 August, the climax of the island's annual Crop Over carnival. The singer, 38, danced through the streets in an elaborate jewelled costume, blowing kisses to fans, continuing her tradition of joining the festival whenever possible and once again drawing global attention to the celebration.

Her outfit, designed by Barbadian designer Lauren Astin, featured crystal embellishments, bold jewel tones, dramatic peacock-coloured feathers and a striking headpiece, along with bold cut-outs on the bodice. Crop Over dates back to the 1700s as a celebration marking the end of the sugar cane harvest, and this year's festival ran from 4 July to 3 August. Rihanna swapped her towering headpiece for a smaller one before joining a float, and fans are still awaiting her ninth studio album following a recent surprise appearance at Jay-Z's Yankee Stadium show in July.
