Country singer Riley Green has moved to shut down speculation that his song "POS Like Me" was written as a response to Megan Moroney's "Who Hurt You?" from her album Cloud 9, insisting the two tracks are unrelated despite the timing that fuelled online theories. The rumours took hold when Green teased his song on the same day Moroney's album dropped, prompting fans to draw parallels given lyrical references some felt pointed to him and his home state of Alabama, adding to long-running dating speculation involving Green, Moroney and fellow singer Ella Langley.

Speaking to Billboard, Green explained that he had actually written "POS Like Me" around six months before Moroney's album release and simply chose to post it that particular day because he happened to be at home and in the mood to share it. Both songs deal with themes of betrayal and heartbreak, which he acknowledged made the comparison understandable, but he stressed that touring life leaves him little time for romance and that fans shouldn't read too much into the lyrics.
