Busan International Film Festival has named Indian director Rima Das, Chinese producer Shan Zuolong and Korean actor Shim Eun-kyung to the jury for its New Currents Award. The prize highlights debut feature filmmakers from Asia and can provide an important platform for emerging directors, with a KRW20 million (£10,000) cash award.

Das brings extensive festival and filmmaking experience, while Shan has produced acclaimed films recognised at Cannes, Berlin, Venice and Locarno. Shim has won major acting honours in South Korea and Japan, including for “Sunny”, “Miss Granny” and “The Journalist”; the 31st BIFF will run from 6–15 October, with the Asian Contents & Film Market following from 10–13 October.
