Ringwyrm might have a nasty sounding name, but its action horror, fantasy Soviet vibes are too compelling to ignore
Ringwyrm is a newly revealed immersive action-horror shooter from Scumhead, the developer of Mohrta. Its blend of boomer-shooter combat, fantasy imagery and lightly Soviet-inspired design makes it stand out, while its promised nonlinear, interconnected world could give the game more exploratory depth than a conventional corridor shooter.
Set 16 years after the Iron War, the story follows war orphan Edna Gotts, conscripted with her sisters for an operation on Umbral Isle, where defeated Schovek forces have found an arcane substance called “Milk” that rapidly reshapes their society. A key survival-horror mechanic prevents players from aiming while moving, forcing a trade-off between accurate shooting and quick evasions; Ringwyrm is due in 2027 and can already be wishlisted on Steam.
- Ringwyrm blends horror shooting with fantasy Soviet-inspired aesthetics.
- Its combat limits aiming while moving.
- The game is planned for release in 2027.
