Riot police forced to break up out-of-control party when 80 teenagers trashed a newly-renovated Melbourne Airbnb leaving desperate neighbours to plead for help

Riot police were called to break up an out-of-control party after nearly 100 teenagers descended on a rented Airbnb in Cranbourne, east Melbourne, causing extensive damage to a recently renovated home. It is understood the property had been booked by teenagers using a fake ID before the address was shared online, prompting waves of gatecrashers to swarm the house and forcing alarmed neighbours to call authorities.

Victoria Police, including officers from the Public Order Response Team, attended the Powerscout Retreat address about 11pm on Friday and dispersed the crowd, though no arrests were made and enquiries continue. Neighbours described cars flooding the street as teenagers poured into the property, which the owners had been preparing to sell; windows were smashed, furniture overturned and a television was seen being carried off. The Airbnb's owner arrived but was unable to approach the house until police cleared the scene, and now faces a repair bill running into thousands of dollars. Police have appealed to anyone with information or CCTV/dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers.
