Rival Sons guitarist Scott Holiday has announced a new solo project called HOL1D4Y, with a debut album, "Topology", set for release on 25 September 2026 through Rival Sons' own label, Sacred Tongue Recordings, distributed worldwide via Thirty Tigers. The project matters as a departure for Holiday, marking the first time in his three-decade career that he sings on his own recordings, and represents a distinct artistic identity separate from his main band. The first single, "Veridream", was released alongside the announcement, blending psychedelic rock, cosmic fuzz and proggy synth textures with pop sensibilities.

The album grew from a daily habit of writing musical fragments in the studio, built around improvised drum recordings sent by Rival Sons drummer Michael Miley, who ultimately plays throughout the record, with keyboardist Jesse Nason later adding vintage synths. Holiday's plans were interrupted when he was struck by a car while cycling home, leaving him with six broken ribs, a shoulder injury and a head injury; during his recovery he found the instrumental sketches "asking for lyrics", prompting him to take on vocals for the first time. "Topology" explores themes of perception and consciousness, with track titles such as "Metacognition", "Panoptic" and "Holotropic", and sonically draws on 1970s progressive rock filtered through modern alternative production.
