Robbie Williams shares new version of Official Fifa Anthem ‘Desire’ featuring Nicole Scherzinger and Laura Pausini ahead of World Cup final
Robbie Williams has released a new version of the official FIFA World Cup anthem 'Desire', now featuring Nicole Scherzinger alongside Laura Pausini, ahead of the tournament's closing ceremony. The updated track builds on the original Williams-Pausini duet, which became the first-ever official FIFA anthem after Williams was named the organisation's Music Ambassador, and the three artists are set to perform it together live for the first time.
The performance will take place at the closing ceremony on Sunday 19 July at New York New Jersey Stadium, shortly before Spain face Argentina in the final, with the event broadcast in the UK on BBC One and expected to draw a worldwide TV audience of around two billion. The ceremony also features Post Malone, Tom Cruise and Jennifer Hudson, while the final will include football's first-ever Halftime Show, organised by Chris Martin and featuring Justin Bieber, Madonna, Shakira and BTS in support of the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. The Halftime Show has drawn criticism from some fans, including The Cure's Robert Smith, and comes as England play France on Saturday for third place, and separately as Williams was recently confirmed as front-of-shirt partner for his boyhood club Port Vale FC.
