Carlyle says the Full Monty cast performed the complete strip only once, filming it from behind over two and a half days because of repeated set-ups. He recalls drawing on public anger and misleading tabloid coverage when playing a Hillsborough-traumatised character in Cracker, and says he learned from directors including Ken Loach, Danny Boyle and Alan Parker.
