Robert Kirkman Reveals Massive Long-Term Future for the Energon Universe [Exclusive]

Collider · 2 hours ago

Robert Kirkman says Skybound intends to build the Energon Universe into a long-lasting comics franchise comparable in durability to Marvel and DC’s core universes. He described the interconnected line as performing far better than expected and said its restrained expansion is intended to keep it accessible, affordable and easy for readers to follow.

The universe began with Void Rivals before expanding into Transformers, G.I. Joe and M.A.S.K., while Rom has recently appeared in a surprise one-shot. Kirkman would like to create a Skuxxoid series eventually, but is avoiding numerous tie-in miniseries; Skybound currently has four ongoing Energon titles and is developing an animated adaptation, with Kirkman hoping still to be involved in 30 years.

  • Kirkman wants Energon to become a lasting comics-industry staple.
  • Skybound is prioritising steady, reader-friendly expansion.
  • An animated adaptation of the interconnected comics is in development.
