Robert Pattinson’s role model is three years younger than him: “He is a great actor”

Far Out ·

Robert Pattinson has revealed that Daniel Radcliffe, his former Harry Potter co-star who is three years his junior, has long been a role model for him. Speaking in a 2010 interview with CBS, Pattinson praised Radcliffe's willingness to take on varied roles and his stage work, saying he "envied" his stints in theatre. The comments highlight how Pattinson's own career path, particularly his move away from the Twilight franchise into unconventional roles, appears to have mirrored the trajectory Radcliffe set after Harry Potter.

Pattinson played Cedric Diggory alongside Radcliffe's title character in 2005's Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, before Twilight made him a global star as Edward Cullen. Radcliffe, meanwhile, diversified after Harry Potter with roles ranging from Allen Ginsberg to "Weird Al" Yankovic, having already dabbled in stage work via a West End run of Equus. Pattinson has since built a similarly eclectic post-franchise career, and in 2026 he features in three major releases: The Drama, The Odyssey, and Dune: Part Three.

  • Pattinson named Daniel Radcliffe, three years younger, as his career role model
  • Praised Radcliffe's varied roles and stage acting in a 2010 interview
  • Both stars moved from teen franchises into eclectic, boundary-pushing careers
