Amazon MGM Studios has greenlit a "Robocop" television series, developed by showrunner Peter Ocko alongside Blumhouse Atomic Monster, following a lengthy development process. The show forms part of Amazon's broader push to turn MGM's film library into television properties since acquiring the studio in 2022, and follows the same premise as the original franchise: a tech conglomerate persuades a city to arm its police force with a robot carrying the consciousness of a deceased officer.

James Wan of Blumhouse Atomic Monster executive produces alongside Michael Clear and Rob Hackett, with Danielle Bozzone as co-executive producer and Ed Neumeier, co-writer of the 1987 original, also on board as executive producer. Ocko, known for "Lodge 49", has been attached since 2024. The series joins other MGM adaptations Amazon has ordered, including "Elle" (a "Legally Blonde" prequel, renewed for a second season), "Barbershop" and "The Magnificent Seven", though the studio recently dropped a previously greenlit "Stargate" series and is seeking a new writer for that project. The original "RoboCop" film, directed by Paul Verhoeven and starring Peter Weller, was released in 1987 and spawned two sequels plus a 2014 remake.
