Rockets survive late fightback to beat Sunrisers

Trent Rockets held on to beat defending champions Sunrisers Leeds by five runs at Trent Bridge in The Hundred women's competition, extending their winning run to three matches despite a dramatic late fightback from the visitors. The result lifts Rockets to within four points of leaders Southern Brave, while Sunrisers, still without a win since their opening match, drop to seventh in the table.

Chasing 139, Sunrisers were reduced to 76-4 before Annabel Sutherland launched a counterattack, hitting 23 runs off one set including two sixes, and adding 50 with Lauren Winfield-Hill off just 27 balls to bring the equation down to 17 needed off five. Winfield-Hill's run-out with three balls left proved decisive, and Sutherland finished unbeaten on 59 as Rockets held on. Earlier, Sophia Dunkley top-scored with 56 off 33 balls before Rockets slumped from 105-2 to 118-6, with useful late runs from Bess Heath helping them post a defendable total.
