Rockstar Games Workers Union say their first meeting with the GTA 6 studio’s management was “a step in the right direction”
The Rockstar Games Workers Union has held its first meeting with management at the Grand Theft Auto 6 developer, calling it a positive initial step towards voluntary recognition. The meeting matters because formal recognition would allow the union to bargain collectively over working conditions at a major UK games studio.
The union, part of the Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain, says it secured a roadmap for swift negotiations and is currently seeking agreement on which employees it would represent. Its proposed priorities include ending crunch, improving pay transparency, restoring flexible working, and commitments against AI use and redundancies; if voluntary recognition fails, it could apply for statutory recognition through the Central Arbitration Committee. The talks come amid an ongoing dispute with former Rockstar staff dismissed last year, with the IWGB alleging union busting and a final trial due in September.
- Rockstar union begins recognition talks with management.
- Workers seek bargaining rights over jobs and conditions.
- Statutory recognition remains possible if talks fail.
