Rod Stewart has cancelled the remainder of his US and Mexico tour dates after undergoing a heart operation, according to an Instagram post shared on Tuesday evening. The 81-year-old singer had a routine coronary stent procedure and, on doctors' advice, will spend four weeks recuperating before returning to the stage, forcing him to abandon his current run of "One Last Time Tour" shows.

The cancelled dates include a six-night "The Encore Shows" residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, along with concerts scheduled across the US and Mexico through August and September. The post said the operation was a success, doctors are pleased with his progress, and Stewart has already returned to his normal daily activities. The cancellation follows an earlier one in June, when he pulled out of a San Diego gig citing a sinus infection and laryngitis, only for some fans to later spot him singing in a video en route to a World Cup match shortly afterwards.
