Roger Waters, the Pink Floyd bassist and longtime Palestinian rights campaigner, has been announced as an executive producer on a new documentary about the Freedom Theatre in the Jenin refugee camp. Directed by Rishi Pelham, the film centres on theatre artist Ahmed Tobasi's efforts to keep the venue open amid ongoing threats to its survival, and marks the latest step in Waters's increasingly vocal support for Palestinian causes during Israel's war in the region.

Freedom Theater was shot over five years and is described as "an immersive and sensory character study." It is currently in post-production, with no release date yet confirmed, though the team plans to hold talks at the Venice Film Festival, which opens on 2nd September. Waters recently released a reimagined version of Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" with Palestinian singer Mona Miari, and has signed an open letter with over 100 other artists urging the festival to take "concrete action" on Palestine; he has also had to publicly deny accusations of antisemitism over his stance.
