Rolf de Heer Named President of Tokyo Film Festival Jury
Australian filmmaker Rolf de Heer has been appointed president of the international competition jury for the 39th Tokyo International Film Festival. The role highlights his four-decade career and distinctive contribution to cinema, while giving him responsibility for evaluating the festival’s diverse competition selection.
De Heer has directed 15½ features, written or co-written 14 produced screenplays, and worked on numerous fiction films and documentaries. His awards include Venice’s Special Jury Prize for “Bad Boy Bubby”, Cannes recognition for “Ten Canoes”, and the Berlin Fipresci Prize for “The Survival of Kindness”, which will screen in TIFF’s Australia Spotlight showcase. The festival runs from 26 October to 4 November, with TIFFCOM taking place from 28 to 30 October.
