Romanian First-Ever Country of Focus at AFM, ‘Fjord’ Director Cristian Mungiu to Attend
The American Film Market (AFM) has named Romania its first-ever Country of Focus, bringing Romanian cinema and production opportunities into the spotlight at the Los Angeles industry event. The initiative is intended to connect Romanian filmmakers and companies with international buyers and partners, and to promote Romania as a place to shoot films.
The AFM runs from 10 to 15 November at the Fairmont Century Plaza. The delegation will include director Cristian Mungiu, presenting *Fjord*, Romania’s official entry for the Academy Award for Best International Feature; four Romanian films will also be screened. Mungiu will join a panel on production partnerships, while organisers and industry representatives are highlighting filming incentives, including a cash rebate that has resumed operation.
