Rome Streetz Breaks Down Each Track From ‘Sock It 2 My Pocket’
Rome Streetz has released his new album "Sock It 2 My Pocket," marking a shift in approach as he moves away from single-producer projects towards a broader creative team, working with heavyweight producers including Pete Rock, 9th Wonder, Havoc and The Alchemist, alongside lesser-known names such as V Don, Denny LaFlare and Russian producer Ssllahi. The New York rapper has built momentum steadily since 2021 and 2022 releases "Death & The Magician" and "Kiss the Ring," earning endorsements from Nas, who signed him to Mass Appeal, and Method Man, who called the new album a classic, as well as recognition at this year's ESPYs, where he met Mike Tyson and NBA players.
The album blends Rome's gritty East Coast style with wider crossover appeal, featuring standout tracks such as "Cocaine Coltraine," the drum-and-bass-influenced "Time & Place," "High Speed" and the 90s-inspired "I Don't Know." Rome describes himself as straddling the line between underground authenticity and mainstream ambition, saying he has "an underground rapper mentality" but "mainstream artist ambitions." Following his multi-album deal with Mass Appeal, he insists his priority remains building notoriety on his own terms rather than chasing chart success.
