‘Rose’ Director Markus Schleinzer Signs With Cinetic For Management
Austrian director Markus Schleinzer, whose black-and-white period drama "Rose" won the Silver Bear at the 2026 Berlin Film Festival, has signed with talent agency Cinetic for management representation. The move follows the film's strong critical reception at Berlinale, where lead actress Sandra Hüller also won the Silver Bear for Best Leading Performance, marking a significant career moment for Schleinzer as he builds on his growing reputation as a filmmaker.
"Rose" is set in the 17th century and follows a woman who disguises herself as a male soldier to join a secluded Protestant village during the Thirty Years' War; it was acquired by MUBI for multiple territories, including North America, with a US theatrical release planned for November. Before turning to directing, Schleinzer worked as a casting director on acclaimed Austrian films including "The White Ribbon", and "Rose" marks his third feature after "Michael" and "Angelo". He is now developing "Klaus", a musical starring Christian Friedel as singer Klaus Nomi, while continuing to be represented in Germany by Katrin Näher of Talent Republic Agency.
