A Rotherham man has been convicted of prolonged sexual communication with a 14-year-old girl he was acquainted with. What began as exchanges about mutual interests progressively escalated into explicit conversations, with the man in his early twenties describing sexual acts in graphic detail and encouraging reciprocal discussion. The girl later told her mother she found his behaviour off-putting, but the matter was not reported to authorities at that time.

Ethan Parton, now 25, pleaded guilty and received an 18-month community order from Sheffield's Recorder. The judge balanced the severity of the offence against Parton's otherwise unblemished background, remarking that the conviction represented a significant mark against his record. Parton has been required to register as a sex offender for five years and is subject to a three-year sexual harm prevention order.
