Rotherham United have signed defender Sonny Aljofree on a two-year contract after his release by Manchester United. The versatile 22-year-old can play at centre-back or right-back, adding defensive options as Rotherham prepare for the League Two season.

Aljofree came through Manchester United’s academy and won the FA Youth Cup in 2021-22, although he did not make a senior appearance for the club. He has gained senior experience during loan spells with Altrincham, Accrington Stanley and Notts County, and impressed Rotherham while on trial in pre-season; the club also hold an option for a further year.
