Sheffield United beat Rotherham United 2–0 in a pre-season friendly at the New York Stadium, extending their unbeaten summer run. The result gave the Blades another encouraging performance ahead of the new campaign, while Rotherham were unable to find a response at home.

Tahith Chong opened the scoring in the 43rd minute, sending Sheffield United into half-time with a one-goal lead. Callum O’Hare doubled the advantage eight minutes after the restart with a right-footed strike from outside the penalty area into the top corner; Sheffield United made five substitutions on the hour.
