The royal period drama Queen Silvia, a co-production between Prime Video and ProSiebenSat.1, will receive its world premiere at MIPCOM Cannes on Tuesday 13 October, with the screening open to the public and subtitled in English and French. The series dramatises the real-life romance between Sweden's Queen Silvia and King Carl Gustaf, tracing their relationship from a chance meeting at the 1972 Munich Olympics through to their engagement four years later, as their bond withstood public scrutiny and royal tradition. The premiere underlines the international ambitions of the project, which will be showcased to broadcasters and buyers gathered at the television market.

The drama stars Alicia von Rittberg as German-Brazilian interpreter Silvia Sommerlath and Edvin Endre as Crown Prince Carl Gustaf, and is filmed across Munich, Stockholm and the French Riviera. It is produced by Pyjama Pictures and Unlimited Stories, directed and co-written by Miguel Alexandre, with Beta Film handling international sales; Prime Video holds rights across Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Nordics, alongside German broadcaster SAT.1. Following the screening of the first episode, a Q&A will feature the two leads, showrunner Carsten Kelber, Alexandre and Beta Film's Justus Riesenkampff, with organisers describing the story as a modern take on royal romance rather than a traditional "Cinderella narrative".
